About the Artist
Welcome to my Gallery
I was born in Pennsylvania but moved to Ohio after finishing school. I worked for many years as executive secretary in a large firm in Ohio. After the children were grown and I was alone, I decided to take some classes from a local well-known artist. I continued there for about ten years. I have been painting well over thirty years.
My daughter had moved south when she married and upon learning she was expecting, I decided to retire and follow her. I love the South -- the people are wonderful and the winters are great. Twenty years have passed since then and the grandson is now in his third year at the University of Alabama.
I attended some art classes at the local community college after I moved here. I also joined the local art association and became very active for many years, having served as president, vice president, secretary and doing whatever was needed. We held annual art shows and workshops with well-known artists from the south. I have had exhibitions at the city hall and the local hospital several times, as well as local business organizations. I have been accepted into juried competitions and done commissions. I have also been invited to donate to ART FOR THE HEART for many years and also EASTER SEALS. My style of realism has evolved from all these efforts. I strive to take the viewer into the actual setting -- be it a landscape I'm working on -- or a floral setup. My favorite subjects are flowers as I feel they are such perfect beauty. When I paint flowers I feel I am using my God-given talent to bring more beauty into the world; however, I feel Our Creator gave us the truly perfect beauty when he sent Jesus into the world. I work in oils, acrylics, watercolors and wc pencils.
My work has won awards and is in collections in the North as well as California and here in the South. />
I hope you enjoy viewing my work as much as I have enjoyed presenting it for you.
